LGBTQ+ Affirmative Care
As a gay man, I am passionate about helping LGBTQ+ people address matters common to the queer community. My work includes supporting folks questioning or exploring their identity, coming out, internalized shame and oppression, gender and body dysphoria, exploring kink, HIV/AIDS-related concerns, asexuality and the sexuality spectrum, and the many life experiences that can intersect with being LGBTQ+. I also have extensive experience working with queer individuals impacted by meth and chemsex addiction, and I approach this work with care and a commitment to reducing shame and stigma.
My experience working with people across the LGBTQ+ spectrum has taught me that while we share many common threads, each community under the LGBTQ+ umbrella has its own distinct experiences, needs, and challenges. Affirming therapy means honoring both what we have in common and what makes each person’s experience unique. My approach is always individualized, collaborative, and grounded in respect for your lived experience.
In this moment, many trans and gender-diverse people are experiencing heightened fear, erasure, and harm, through government actions and through the loss of recognition in public spaces and history. I want to acknowledge how real and painful this is, and to affirm that this is a space where your identity is respected, your experiences are taken seriously, and your safety and well-being matter.
I have worked closely with trans and gender-diverse people for many years and deeply respect the unique questions, challenges, victories, and extraordinary resilience that are part of trans lives. Trans communities have long faced discrimination, misunderstanding, and scrutiny, both from the broader culture and within LGBTQ+ spaces themselves. That reality makes affirming, competent, and genuinely supportive therapy especially important. I strive to offer a space where trans and gender-diverse clients can process, explore, heal, and grow in a way that feels safe, respectful, and empowering.
I work with gay men of all ages and understand the experiences that uniquely shape their lives. Forming friendships, navigating dating and relationships, exploring sexuality, body image matters, the aging process, and building a sense of belonging can all carry distinct challenges for us. My work with gay men is grounded in understanding these realities, reducing shame, and supporting you in building a life and relationships that feel authentic, connected, and sustainable.
