My background and approach
Thank you for visiting my website and considering working with me. I know that seeking therapy can be intimidating and I aim to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. I provide a safe space where you will never feel judged and always feel supported.
As a queer person of color who is in recovery, I bring my own life experience into my work. I am easygoing, a dedicated listener, and hope you will feel comfortable just being yourself when in a therapy session with me. When appropriate, I love to bring humor into the room, keeping things human and grounded. Compassion is a key word in the work I do: being compassionate personally and helping you find compassion for yourself and others.
My intention is to collaborate with you rather than tell you what to do. If you want more guidance, I’m happy to provide it and if you’re not sure what you want, that’s okay too. I’ll gladly walk alongside you as we figure it out together.
I focus on your strengths as much as your struggles. I take an integrative approach that’s compassionate, strength-based, and tailored to you. My work is IFS-informed and draws from psychodynamic and narrative perspectives. I am trained in EMDR, an evidence-based, experiential, trauma-focused therapeutic approach that we can explore together, if appropriate for you. I also integrate behavioral approaches like CBT and DBT, especially for managing overwhelming thoughts, supporting emotion regulation, and building practical coping skills for anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other concerns
Experience has taught me that lasting change often comes from going deeper: exploring your past, your patterns, and the unconscious influences that shape how you move through the world. I was trained by psychodynamically-oriented mentors and that depth continues to inform my work.
I began my career as a therapist training at a nonprofit residential treatment center for addiction and mental health called Beit T’Shuvah. I then worked as a primary therapist at No Matter What Recovery, an LGBTQ+ affirmative organization offering outpatient addiction and mental health treatment, as well as sober living services, detox, and holistic care. I facilitated groups and provided therapy for individuals, couples, and families at both organizations.
Working in private practice has allowed me to offer deeper, more personalized work with my clients. I’d love the opportunity to work with you.
I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University where I specialized in Addiction and Recovery. My Bachelor’s degree is from UCLA in Environmental Studies. I did my EMDR training through the EMDR Institute, founded by Francine Shapiro, PhD.
